What to expect on your first visit
During your first visit with us you will have a consultation regarding the reason for your visit and your current and pertinent past health conditions. You will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have and ask questions. While you relax in a comfortable lounger, we will complete our assessment and then place the needles primarily on your forearms and lower legs. A typical treatment lasts about 30 - 45 minutes.
It's important to remember that acupuncture is a process and you will likely require multiple treatments. Generally, the more severe or longstanding the condition the more frequent acupuncture treatments are indicated in order to get lasting results. After your first visit you will be given a written and detailed treatment plan according to your specific health condition and goals. We will continue to check in with you regarding your progress on subsequent visits.
How to prepare for your visit
Eat a light meal or snack within 1 hour of your appointment.
Avoid perfumes or colognes. Many of our patients including pregnant women or those undergoing chemotherapy are sensitive to strong odors.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can roll up to the elbows and knees easily.
Bring an ipod, earplugs or eye mask if desired. You are also welcome to bring your own pillow or light blanket.
Please silence all electronic devices before entering the treatment area.
To save time, print and complete the new patient paperwork prior to your visit and bring it with you.
Policies
Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash, credit card, debit card, HSA or FSA card.
No shows and cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will be charged $35 for treatments, $40 for new patient intakes.
If you require a receipt for your treatment please request it at the time of your appointment. Payment report fees are $35.
Please turn off your cellphone and be as quiet as possible in the treatment room.

What is acupuncture? Acupuncture is a 3,000 year old system of medicine originating from China. Acupuncture became well known in the United States in 1971 when New York Times reporter James Reston received acupuncture in China to alleviate pain following surgery for appendicitis. In 1997, the National Institute of Health acknowledged acupuncture's effectiveness and called for further study into it. In 2003, the World Health Organization recognized acupuncture as effective for nearly four dozen common health conditions. Oprah received acupuncture on her show in 2007, further increasing American public awareness of acupuncture.
How does acupuncture work? Acupuncture helps the body to heal itself. It's not putting anything into you, simply helping your body to heal itself more effectively. This explains why everyone's experience of acupuncture is different. Meaghan gives a great explanation in this video!

What is community acupuncture? We are a community acupuncture clinic; our mission is to provide acupuncture in a manner that people can access frequent enough treatment to improve their health condition. We operate a sliding scale with no questions asked, patients pay what works for them in the range of $35-$55 per visit. With no treatment restrictions patients can access affordable acupuncture at any time for any reason. For most patients this is the most cost effective way to receive quality individualized acupuncture treatments which ultimately accelerates the progress of improving their health condition. Community acupuncture also means we harness the energy of a group of individuals to supercharge the power of the acupuncture treatment for all. Health is not just an individual condition, and we are one of the few unique spaces in health care to not just recognize but to use this to increase the benefit for all.
Our treatment style is comfortable and easy to access, needles are primarily placed on the head, arms and lower legs while patients relax in a circle of comfortable reclining loungers. We utilize a variety of treatment strategies which allows us to treat any health condition without patients needing to get undressed or lay face down.
After your first visit you will be given a detailed and individualized written treatment plan according to your health condition and treatment goals. We will continue to check in with you at each subsequent visit to monitor your progress.
